It is with great sadness that we must inform that Nishimura Takaatsu Shihan, our JKA Australia Chief Instructor and supervising instructor for the JKA Greater Melbourne Branch, passed away peacefully on 11 October 2021.
Nishimura Shihan was a highly regarded and respected karate instructor and person by his peers in Australia and overseas, particularly in Japan. He played a pivotal role in establishing and helping JKA grow in Australia and in other parts of the world.
Nishimura Shihan’s knowledge of karate and the level of his instructions were exceptional. Our members and those who were fortunate to have trained directly with him would have witnessed and experienced this first-hand. As a great mentor and teacher, he inspired and motivated many to pursue both their karate and personal goals.
Our members, instructors and families of the JKA Greater Melbourne branch are deeply saddened by Nishimura Shihan’s passing. He has helped us grow as individuals and as a group. The JKA Greater Melbourne branch would not be where it is, without his guidance and support.
We will miss Nishimura Shihan dearly. We will strive to continue practicing JKA karate just as he as taught us.
Our heartfelt condolences goes out to Nishimura Shihan’s family and friends.
